UCRA Statement re Public Meeting with Cllr Damian White on 23 July
The following statement has been released by the Upminster and Cranham Residents’ Association Councillors with regard to the retailers/public meeting held with Cllr Damian White (Conservative Leader of Havering Council) in Cranham Social Centre Hall on 23 July.
‘The Upminster and Cranham Residents’ Association were advised that the Leader of the Council would cancel last nights public meeting to discuss the unacceptable changes in car parking charges, if the Resident Association Councillors attended the meeting. Your RA Councillors respected the retailers request for us to uphold this, giving retailers and the public the opportunity to meet with the Leader.
The feedback we have received and the livestream that was available of the meeting, makes it clear that the Leader was unable to justify the removal of the 30 free minutes parking.
We will continue to work with retailers and residents in challenging the administration and, as you will be aware, we have already held a ‘Save Our Shops’ protest at the Town Hall and had articles published in the press. The campaign continues.’
